Oi galera--

Due to the impressive flurry of emails, I have decided to moderate the email list. You can all still send emails to the list as before, but I will be okaying them as they come through--that way, I can make sure we avoid having back-and-forth discussion on the list. I will do my best to make sure emails meant for individuals get to the right person. (That said, take care to reply only to the email address of the sender, not to the entire list!)

I recommend that, if you are interested to have Portuguese conversations in your specific area, that you take the helm and organize an event! You don't need to ask "Who is interested?" because there are a lot of people on the list, and at least a few can always joing you. So come up with (1) a date and time, (2) a location, (3) and a description of what you're doing. I think most people just want to get together and meet other speakers in their areas, and that's great. I will be happy to translate such events into official announcements through the Meetup site.

Also, if you want to really step up and plan events on an ongoing basis, I can share the Meetup group's tools with you as an Assistant Organizer. Just email me directly about it.

You can use this as an area to seek people in your area without going across the email list, if you just want to connect with individuals and don't necessarily want to plan an event.
